Four Days Until Premiere, Eighty-Eight Until Finale

Well, it's growing late so I think I'll keep it short tonight. Lots of new and interesting updates on the Horizon front, what with "Path of Revelation, Part One" premiering after its predecessor "The Devil to Pay." Alex just converted it to PDF, and it's ready to be released on Thursday. "Path of Revelation, Part Two," "Night Terrors," and "The Adversary" will soon join it as they get released in the upcoming weeks. I was a bit concerned we wouldn't be able to get the second half to air without breaks, but things are looking positive now.

As I said, episodes 2.12-2.15 are, for the most part, complete, and I can say that I enjoy all of them. All four were written by Alex, who has written more than any other staff writer combined. It took him a while to get all of these episodes done, but it happened and they were worth all of the effort put in to them. Thursday's episode ends in a big surprise, but at least there will only be a week's wait in between episodes now.

2.16, called "Convergence" as is well known by now, is pretty much ready as well, undergoing its final revisions. It'll be my second script this year, and my second script for Horizon period. Alex made some revisions of his own to it, and when he did that to "Parti Pris" it was sent back with several improvements. After receiving it revised, I'll take one last look over it and change things if necessary, and it too will can be sent to Justin for proofreading and finally converted to PDF where it will sit on the waiting list for release in five weeks or so. Look forward to seeing a different side of Yusuf, as well as Doctor Michael Sullivan, the newest hothead aboard Horizon.

2.17 has been a long time in the making, but Alex tells me that the "Journalist's Day" outline is coming out soon. Despite this episode being discussed for the first time way back in the season's beginning, I don't really know much about it at all. I do know that we'll be seeing Zach a lot, so hopefully this episode makes him more likeable to those who aren't fond of his character. Since we've seen him as mainly comic relief in the past, this episode should flesh out his character.

2.18, known as "Amazing Grace," is at the same status as "Convergence," although since it's further back in the air date order we're not focusing on looking at the draft quite as much. Alex believes that it should be more emotional is certain areas, and I do agree with him. Knowing when to have a character get emotional and when to keep things subtle is a fine line you must walk. Things to look for in 2.18: David getting roughed up, the appearance of David's wife, lots of flashbacks, and a huge ass, well, I can't really say what's huge quite yet, at least not until a bit more about the story is posted by Alex. I can tell you that whatever it is, we hope to have some concept images of it. This episode marks a milestone for me, my third episode, meaning I've written more episodes than anyone other than Alex. I do believe Vincent's well on his way though, as he seems quite interested in the series.

Speaking of Vincent, 2.19 "Aversion" is next in line in the episode order. I just read the outline for that one recently, and I'll say that it brings up a plot point from the premiere. When the team finds a certain being of a certain race is discovered in a certain laboratory, a certain Horizon team brings it back which triggers a certain conflict, and a certain crewmember has to deal with some issues from his/her past. Gee, I hope I haven't been too cryptic. Needless to say, it will be much less of an action-oriented episode and more of a character driven one. Because we love those oh-so-much. Vincent's just started the white draft for this one now.

Another episode that much hasn't been said about is "Uprising," which I bring up because it is 2.20 and, in case you haven't noticed, I've been bringing the episodes up in the order in which they'll air. The outline was just put out for this one today, and it sees the return of our good friends the Aschen. It would seem the rebels want to finally be rid of their God-awful government, and they want Horizon to help them with a decisive strike. Silly Aschen. Can't reveal much else here, Alex will do all the minor plot point revealing on the forum.

Next up would be "Catch 22," the no-win situation episode that's been shelved since the beginning of the season. It started as episode 2.03 "Crossfire," brought back as 2.11 "Zero Option," with basically none of the same components as its previous incarnation. From there it was renamed to "Catch 22," attempted by myself, failed to finish in time, and shelved it once again with the possibility of seeing it again this season. More reason, as stated in previous posts, we picked it up again, I wrote an outline, and the script would soon begin. Well, we finally got the story down pat and I finished my fourth draft today, setting my own personal record of writing a script in three days. I do like it, too, and I imagine the staff's suggestions and revisions will improve it even more. It fits much better at the end of the season anyway, as it initiates the end of the season arc. More information can be found on the Horizon site.

And finally, the ever secretive final three episodes of the season. The outline for 2.22 is currently in progress, and there has been a suggested title that I really like if we find that it suits the final story. So far, I can only reveal that it will involve a Vorian holiday and have a crapload of guest stars and recurring characters. Since my other four scripts are done, I'll be writing this one as well for my final episode of season two. How time flies.

And, as usual, Alex will be writing the finale episodes: 2.23 and 2.24, because he writes two parters so well. I'll just say that we'll start 2.23 screwed, and we'll leave 2.24 ten times as screwed. The plots for these episodes are very confidential at the moment, though, so that's all I can say.

Information for 2.12, 2.13, 2.14, 2.15, 2.16, and 2.21 can be found on the Horizon site and the forums. Look for details on 2.17, 2.18, 2.19, 2.20, 2.22, 2.23, and 2.24 in the not-so distant future.

Oh yes, and we actually released concept art today. Thanks to Peter, it's over at the forums now.

The Premiere is Near

Well, when I got this blog I hoped to update it more, but I guess not. I guess that's because there haven't been too many updates on anything as of late, except for the usual 24 and Stargate episodes. Seasons 2 and 9 of SG-1 and Atlantis end this week. I've already seen "Allies," which was excellent, so I'm mostly looking forward to "Camelot."

There were a couple of developments on the Horizon front, as usual. Episode 17 has been dubbed "Journalist's Day," Episode 19 is currently "Aversion," and Episode 20 is called "Uprising" as it now stands. Of course, such things are always subject to change. We've got a possible title for 2.22, but we're not sure how it will work out until we work out the story. Titles and plots were also suggested for 2.23 and 2.24, so we have at least a suggested title for every episode in the season.

Right now, we have quite a few episodes that are now/are near ready for release. "Path of Revelation, Part 1" and "Path of Revelation, Part 2" are prepped and ready to go. Won't be long now before they finally premiere. "Night Terrors" and "The Adversary" are also mostly set, which is good since they'll premiere right after the mid season three parter. Following that is "Convergence," which'll be nearly ready once the blue draft comes out (expecting that very soon). "Journalist's Day" is currently being written by Alex; it took us a while to get to that one but it will most certainly be ready in time. Alex is a speed demon. "Amazing Grace," my third episode, as I said before, and the white draft has been turned in. We will revise it shortly in the near future. I just read the outline of "Aversion" yesterday, in which we'll get to see a darker side of Tom. Not much action, but great character moments. This will be Vincent's first episode. "Uprising" is still in production, and I'm still waiting the go on the script for "Catch 22." I already wrote the teaser, since that probably won't be changed, and I should be able to get started by next Tuesday. After that, just three more episodes. My, how time flies.

Some of 24's best stuff I have ever seen was on this week. As much as I want to mention the particulars, I'd hate to spoiler the twist at the end of 5.12. Holy hell, though, it was awesome. I've went and spoiled myself for next week, too, which will be equally as shocking if my sources are correct. This season is shaping up to be the greatest yet.

Like I said, not much to update with, so I shall move on now.
